LOS ANGELES (AP) — Jordan Peele’s $15 million film “Get Out” has snagged three of the Academy Awards’ top honors.
Peele earned a nomination for best original screenplay for his debut film, which stars black actor Daniel Kaluuya as a black man who tries to win over his white girlfriend’s parents. Peele accepted the award for best original screenplay on behalf of “Get Out” at the 87th Academy Awards on Tuesday.
The film also won in the race for best original score and best original song for the song “Mighty Rivers.”
“Get Out” is the first feature film by the director of the horror film “Get Out” and the horror comedy “The Purge.”

Lupita Nyong’o, an Oscar winner for her role as a slave in “12 Years a Slave,” played his mother.
Also honored was “The Shape of Water,” about a mute janitor who falls in love with a fish-monster in a hidden government laboratory. It won for best original score and best original song for the song “Remember Me.”
“This is an incredible victory for its writers, director and its performers,” said “The Shape of Water” director Guillermo del Toro.
The 87th Academy Awards will be presented on March 4 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
The Oscars are scheduled to be shown in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide.
